More than 100 companies have participated in and benefited from the Global Clusters (former Global Software) programs since 1999.  An independent evaluation found that the programs have had significant impact on participating companies’ internationalization capacities. Especially well the programs have succeeded in strengthening networks, increasing market knowledge and improving both strategic planning and business skills (Ministry of Employment and the Economy 2006).

In concrete business measures participating companies report radically improved international business performance.  Participating companies have raised more than €100 million in venture capital. Tens of participating companies have closed deals and opened their presence in international markets.  Many of the participating companies including Ball-IT, Codenomicon, Ekahau, Nethawk, Jutel and Solibri are recognized as international innovation leaders. Hantro and Codenomicon are among the companies who have been listed as fastest growing technology companies in Europe by Deloitte.

Although international IPOs are still to come, quite many of the companies have achieved critical mass of international customers.  Mergers and acquisitions already exceed €200 million among deals participating companies have been part of.

The Global Clusters program is planned to serve a wide range of Finnish technology companies. It is most efficient with companies in scalable businesses.
